There are so many different things you can do with a business card. From the words or images you have on the card to the very material that you print the card on, there are just so many ways to make some very impressive custom business cards.

With all of these options I have to wonder why people so often stick to only one business card.

Often this is the first business card they get done. If they don’t have to change it they choose not to. Maybe this has to do with a devotion to the original card design, or maybe it’s just because they don’t feel that they need to vary up their card.

Dealing with whether you specifically need to change your card every so often, that’s really not an easy question to answer. The industry a person is in along with the type of person they are and the type of card they have will all be deciding factors, but there are a number of very good reason why you should consider having more than one business card.

Different business card designs are just naturally better for different situations. Sometimes you want a subdued card with few colors and nothing flashy about it. If you hand someone anything else they might frown upon it, rather than smile at the creativity you used. Of course, the reverse will certainly be true as well.

After being handed twenty different plain business cards at various events I latch onto that creative card for the simple fact that it’s different.

Sometimes going with something like wood, metal, or plastic for your card’s material will get you a lot of interested looks and help you be remembered. On other occasions people won’t be able to fit them as easily into a business card holder, so they’ll just throw it away.

Only you can judge which kinds of custom business cards are right for which situation, but one thing I can say, is that I don’t think any single business card is right for all occasions. No matter what your card looks like you will find certain situations where it just doesn’t do as good as it could.

That’s why it can really benefit you to consider having more than one card, which in turn allows you to have more flexibility and do the best job you can no matter what situation you’re in.

As I said earlier, there are a lot of different options out there for people today. You can change your card every day and still never run out of new ways to make it unique. Given all of those options it seems kind of sad to never use them because you only want one card.
